Willie Mullins

Willie Mullins commenced training in 1988 having worked as assistant to both his father Paddy and to Jim Bolger. He still rates his father as the biggest influence on his career. A former six time amateur champion in Ireland, his greatest moments in the saddle were winning the 1983 Aintree Foxhunters on Atha Cliath and the 1996 Cheltenham champion bumper on Wither or Which.

As a trainer Willie has won just about every major prize in Ireland, most of the big ones in the UK and several in France as well for good measure. The Grand National, the Cheltenham gold cup (twice)The King George, The Champion hurdle in England, Ireland and France, the Supreme novice hurdle and numerous Cheltenham bumpers.

Despite all of the success he has had throughout his career the last ten seasons have arguably been the best campaigns of his career. His horses have remained remarkably consistent, and the 2017/2018 produced a record breaking season with 212 winners from 797 runners.

Willie has been the Champion NH trainer for the last fourteen years and he has won the title fifteen times in total. The 2020/2021 season yielded a winning strike rate of 28%.

HARTY RACING

Eddie spent his early days in finance before following his roots into training racehorses. Initially Eddie’s focus was on flat racing but the arrival of Captain Cee Bee moved the operation towards jump racing. Captain Cee Bee won twice at the highest level including at the Cheltenham Festival and raced for an incredible 10 years, a testament to his trainer’s careful handling. Patrick’s interest in horses and racing grew when his father started training and upon finishing school he left for England to work for champion trainer Nicky Henderson. Patrick spent five years as assistant to Nicky, working with some of the best jump horses seen in recent times. Mulgrave Lodge is a purpose built yard on the edge of The Curragh, Kildare. The house and yard were designed with the Hartys’ future as Curragh trainers in mind. Eddie and Patrick Harty are fantastic horsemen that we are delighted to be working with.
